REVIEW: Pampered Beauty Bar & Spa - Beach Ready Spray Tan & Mani/Pedi

As I continued my journey of self care this week I knew one of the things many women enjoy is getting a mani/pedi. Since I was heading to the beach as well I took the advice of a friend and also scheduled myself for a spray tan -- I will say, very reluctantly. I've never had a spray tan before so of course I was very worried about turning "orange" and having to live with a terrible, splotchy color all week while at the beach. 

I've always loved the ladies at The Pampered Peacock and when they recently opened their new Pampered Beauty Bar & Spa location I couldn't resist sharing their amazing new location and expanded services with you. So, what better place to get my spray tan and mani/pedi!

Once I arrived I was greeted with such kindness and offered water, coffee or tea from their Hydrate or Caffeinate station. As you can see the inside of the salon and spa is breathtaking and made me feel relaxed. 

I took the advice of my technician, Ashley, and decided to go with a gel manicure and pedicure since I would be a the beach and wanted the polish to hold up all week while in the sun and sand. Ashley is a new addition to the Pampered Beauty Bar & Spa staff and she was very sweet, gentle and took her time to be sure my manicure and pedicure was perfect. I really enjoyed getting to know her and share some good conversation as well. I think that's definitely one of the important factors for me when it comes to getting my nails done is having someone who enjoys conversing as well as being very detail oriented.  As you can see I went with one of my favorite colors, an aqua -- perfect for the beach -- with a pink shimmery accent on my ring fingers. Ashley did a superb job and I would highly recommend her. While, Vee is also a fantastic nail tech and has been with Pampered Peacock since their beginning! You can't go wrong with either of these ladies. And, look at all these colors!!! So many amazing choices. 

Even after 8 days, many of which was spent in the sand, doing dishes, hauling luggage, cleaning a car and doing laundry my gel nails have held up fantastic. I would definitely say if you're looking for a durable manicure but you don't want anything artificial such as acrylics that will continue to require maintenance with fills and such then the gel mani/pedi is a great option. Also, for the month of July, on Mondays you can get a gel mani/pedi combo with Ashley for only $55! Be sure to mention you heard about it from Macaroni Kid! 

In addition to gel mani/pedis they also offer SNS, as well as tips and just regular polish manicures and pedicures. Also, kids are welcome to come have services done as well. So why not bring your daughter for a special spa day also? Pampered Beauty Bar & Spa is definitely the perfect place to treat your little lady to special day. 

After my manicure & pedicure I was taken back to see Beth, one of the owners at Pampered Beauty Bar & Spa, to get started on my spray tan. When I had come in I initially expressed my concern with getting a spray tan for the first time and everyone from the front desk staff to Ashley my nail tech, Vee (another nail tech) and anyone else that overheard, were eager to help ease my mind about my first time. They assured me Beth was the best around and she would make sure I was comfortable and had a fantastic experience. They were not lying. Beth took her time to explain the products, how the process would go and also answer the plethora of questions I had about application, care and everything in between. Before getting started Beth gave me the option of choosing which product I wanted to use - Golden Sol (Natural Organic and Locally Made) or Norvell (Rated #1 Sunless Tanning Brand).  She also asked whether I wanted to keep myself partially covered with either undergarments or a bathing suit, or go full bare for full body color coverage. Ladies, Beth really makes you feel like she's been your best friend for years. I really felt at ease by the time the process started and I chose to do full body coverage since I knew I would be changing swimsuits throughout the week and didn't want different tan lines. The whole spray process took less than 15 min (not counting my 20 min question session prior to starting the actual spray). I immediately had color to my skin and was advised to allow it to set for 8 hours before I rinsed/showered. 

I will say that initially the color over the next few hours was more than I had anticipated but Beth and everyone had assured me that once I rinsed later that night and then again the next afternoon the real color would be left and more natural.  I really was pleased with how well it lasted all week also. I did not flake or splotch at all this week, as I had worried about. As it faded later in the week it was such a subtle gradual fade that I really didn't notice and I also gained some of my own tan throughout the week. I would recommend if you're going to get a spray tan to do it a day before you actually want the true color to be revealed. In my case, I had timed it just right! Also, be sure to wear loose fitting clothing and nothing too light colored as you may have some transfer of color initially. I did not notice anything on my clothing but I imagine if you wore white and something more tight fit you'd experience some transfer.

I love that they also carry paraben, sulphate and cruelty free hair products! Being that I'm trying to eliminate harsh chemicals from my home and personal care products, this is a great option!
