WIN 4 TIX: Gwinnett Ballet Theatre's Cinderella

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre will open the 2015-2016 Season with a favorite fairy tale which ensures audiences a “happily ever after” experience. “Cinderella” will be presented at the Infinite Energy Theater (formerly the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center) Saturday, October 3rd at 2:30 and 7:30 pm and on Sunday, October 4th at 2:30 pm. There will be a special outreach Sensory Friendly show on Friday, October 2nd at 7:30 p.m.

GBT’s “Cinderella” is performed to the beautiful music of Ottorino Respighi, predominantly his “Ancient Aires and Dances.” The familiar story is told in a traditional way, with beautiful Cinderella, her wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters, a handsome Prince, a Fairy Godmother, and a very magical pair of slippers. Colorful costumes are the creation of Atlanta costumer Barbara Mock. New set pieces and lighting will grace the production.

One very special feature will be sumptuous floral arrangements created for the Garden Scene, where Cinderella and her Prince first fall in love. These are being made by Floristique of Suwanee, GA, a business becoming well known for their creativity and unique flair for floral beauty.

A second unique feature of “Cinderella” is the inclusion of a Sensory Friendly performance for audiences with autism, brain injury, and other sensory issues. The idea of having Sensory Friendly performances was begun last Holiday Season with GBT’s “The Nutcracker.” The Sensory Friendly show for that occasion proved so successful that GBT committed to having such offerings for special audiences at all productions.

The “Cinderella” Sensory Friendly show will be on Friday, October 2nd at 7:30 pm. This show will feature raised lighting, and the music will be lowered to avoid unexpected noises. Audience members are free to move about and to clap, cheer, dance and simply enjoy! A special viewing area in the lobby will be available for those who wish to remain outside the enclosed theatre, and the ushers and staff are very respectful and helpful for this very special audience.

Tickets for Cinderella on October 3rd and 4th are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $12 for groups of 10 or more. Tickets for the October 2nd Sensory friendly show are $8 for everyone or $6 for groups of 10 or more.
