If you haven't seen the BFG movie, it's based on the book by Roald Dahl. It's a favorite amongst the younger kids. The BFG is "The Big Friendly Giant", he's unlike other giants who eat children. BFG eats weird concoctions such as Frobscottle, Snozzcumbers and Human Beans. We enjoyed a few of these delectable items at our party.
Frobscottle has many different recipes you can find online. We opted for the less messy one, since we were at a dance studio, of ginger ale and green food coloring. You can also use Pop Rocks and sherbet to make the fizzy drink frothy at home.
The kids took part in a "Human Bean" eating contest where they raced each other to see who could eat all of their "human beans" first. The Human Beans were sour patch kids covered in whipped cream and they were challenged to eat them with "no hands". It was so fun the kids went for three rounds. I think they would've played a hundred times more if it weren't for the parents putting the breaks on all the "human bean" consumption.
Now on to the crafts......
There were different table stations where families could craft Big Ears, Paper Vests and Dream Jars. In addition, the kids also colored BFG coloring sheets.
Paper Vests
The kids and parents cut out their vests from paper bags and decorated them with markers.
Big Ears
We took pink paper plates, folded them in half then hot glued them onto plastic headbands. Some chose to decorate the ears with markers as well.
Dream Jars
Glass jars were filled with warm water, then added about 4 tablespoons of glue, swirled around until the glue dissolved then added blue and silver glitter, then desired food coloring. Mix and place the lid on. Once the jar is sealed, take a label and write the child's name on the label. ie; "Sophie's Dream Jar".
