High Touch High Tech

March 9, 2015

During the 20 years High Touch High Tech has served Atlanta, we have become a recognized leader in program development that increases scientific and technological literacy among students through interactive hands-on science experimentation.

Summer is a time for fun and that is just what our degreed professional instructors do during our week long science camps! We make science fun! Each day your child participates in three time blocks of guided hands on experimentation. In between those three time blocks, we have recess, lunch and a free exploration. Free exploration is 30 minutes of free time each day with an opportunity for the campers to choose from arts and crafts, games, Lego® robotics, or continuing on with our science lab equipment.

During lunch we keep everyone happy with an age appropriate video such as Magic School Bus© for the little ones or Mythbusters© for the older campers. The rest of the day is all hands on science fun!

CAMP DATES:
June 1st - July 31st weekly camps available.

CAMP OFFERINGS:

E3 – Explore, Experiment, and Engineer  (Rising 1st - 7th  Graders)
From magnets to Mindstorms™, we’ll get charged up exploring magnetism and it’s relationship to electricity. We will measure voltage and resistance and work our way through the basics of electronics using Snap Circuits™ and Little Bits™ circuit kits.  The week will end by building and programming with LEGO WeDo™ and Mindstorm EV3™ robotics kits.

E3 goes out of this world with explorations in solar astronomy.  Safely view the sun (with our special tools)! Blast off into the unknown exploring with air and water rockets before you build YOUR OWN re-launchable rocket, capable of flying up to 1,000 feet in the air!

Get the skinny on measurement and geometry in the world around us. Linear measurement, perimeter, area, measurement of mass, symmetry, and tesselations have never been so much fun as when we explore them with LEGOs, K’NEX, laptops, the internet and MORE!  Don’t be surprised to find geometry in ART that we observe and create!

Alphabet Soup Camp (Rising 1st/2nd graders)
From Air pressure TO Zeppelins, the alphabet is our guide for FUN science experiments. Can you put your finger through a bubble without popping it? Can you splash water using only sound energy?  YOU CAN AT SCIENCE CAMP! Build your very own catapult to take home. Even build and program Lego WeDo Robots. Have a BLAST launching water rockets, digging for dinosaurs, making F5 tornadoes and exploring with magnets! Fun from life, physical and earth science keep small hands busy all week long!

Kool & Krazy Camp  (Rising 3rd/4th graders)

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to mix, build, brew and goo all kinds of crazy concoctions & contraptions.  Explore electrical engineering with a variety of circuits and build your own electromagnet.  Cure your chemical curiosity with color-changing and luminescent (glowing) reactions.  Use Legos to better understand chemistry, gravity and friction.  Learn about mechanics and robotics by assembling and programming with Lego WeDo TM kits.  Stay 'KOOL' launching water rockets and making fake snow!

Science over the Edge Camp  (Rising 5th-7th graders)

Test the limits of how much FUN you can have in one week!  Energy Independence is the topic of Summer 2015.  Investigate the potential of solar, wind and electrical power and learn how they work.  Discover how fast you can see while making your own stop motion clay cartoon.  Grow your understanding of agriculture and food while designing your own vegetable garden!  Learn about chemical kinetics and reaction rates while you make a chemical reaction speed up or slow down.  Gape in AMAZEMENT as you make silver appear out of clear liquid!  End the week with learning how to find your way home with stars alone.
