iCoffee's SafetyLock consumer protection system uses a two-step system to protect consumers. During the first step, a mechanical lock secures the single-serve brew head during the brewing process to ensure that the brew head will not open at any time during the brewing cycle. If the brew head is tampered with during brewing, a secondary electronic safety device instantly shuts off the flow of water, helping prevent burn-related injuries due to hot liquid escaping from the brew head. I've been using the iCoffee Opus™ this week in place of my standard pot brewer. I was very uneasy about transitioning to another single-cup brewer as I've not had good experiences with previous models. I was most skeptical for my husband who truly enjoys a "muddy" cup of coffee. It took some trial and error to determine the correct amount of pre-ground coffee to water ratio that would yield the perfect "cup o' Joe" for my husband. After a few tries, and me three cups in on his "bunk" cups, we managed to get the perfect ratio and he was pleased with the results. He's a die-hard Dunkin' fan so it was nice to be able to use the coffee we already had on hand in the reusable K-Cup. The brewer is very easy to use. My husband even loved the blue glow in the water reservoir. I know, priorities. 
I would definitely recommend this brewer as it's above the standard in hotness and versatility with being able to use regular K-Cups and a refillable one. Our model came with the reusable K-Cup. We are a budget conscious family so being able to use our own coffee instead of always having to purchase those costly K-Cups is imperative. In addition, the removable cup stand allows for your travel mug to be placed underneath for brewing as well. Great for on-the-go families.
