Watch the Halloween fun spread through your neighborhood.

When my family first moved to our neighborhood over 3 years ago, we were overjoyed with the number of families on our street. Many of which the children were same ages as our kids. Over the years we've enjoyed many fun traditions. One of which was the first Halloween surprise left at our door. It was a Halloween themed goodie bag filled with treats and a sign that said "You've Been Boo'ed!" How cute is that?

This holiday tradition is a popular activity throughout our area the whole month of October.  My children look forward to this time of the year and not just because they get to dress up and get candy on Halloween night. They especially love picking out the items and prepping the goodie bags. Most of all they love leaving the "Boo's" on our neighbor's front porch!

Want to start this tradition in your neighborhood?
Just follow these simple instructions and you'll be BOO'ing in no time!

1.  Put together two Halloween baskets or gift bags filled with fun treats.  You can include sweet treats and/or Halloween-themed decorations and favors.  Keep in mind the ages of the families you'll be BOO'ing and have fun putting together something that will be enjoyed by everyone.

2.  On the outside of the basket or bag, print and attach to the following sheet with the "BOO" poem.  You can use plain or colored paper or print the poem on a colorful piece of Halloween stationery.  (Note: This is the poem we've received in years past, but you can find variations online if you search "Getting Boo'ed.")

3. Print the sign below and include in each bag for the receiving family to place on their door once they've been BOO'ed so others will know.

4.  Also include an instruction sheet in each bag with the following:

  • Place your "BOO!" sign in a visible spot (on your front door or window).
  • Within two days, create two "BOO" bags including treats, signs, and instructions and secretly deliver one each to two neighbors.
  • Make sure you only give a bag to those who have not yet been "BOO'ed."
  • Watch the "BOO's" spread!

5.  Pick two neighbors and secretly drop your "BOO" on their front step! You must be "sneaky" and don't let them see you!

Now get out there and "BOO!"
