CUMMING DANCE ACADEMY IS EXPANDING TO DAWSONVILLE
CDA NORTH IS OPENING JANUARY 9, 2017
In its thirteenth year of business Cumming Dance Academy, Inc. is set to open a new location in Dawsonville, Georgia in January of 2017. CDA North will open in the Dawson Village shopping center located right at the intersection of Ga 400 and Hwy 53. This 3rd location will hold a state of the art dance facility complete with sprung floors, double barres, and a waiting room for parents with a viewing window. CDA North will offer classes in ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop for students ages 2 and up.
Cumming Dance Academy, Inc. owner Niki Jernigan-Watkins is thrilled about the opportunity to bring quality dance education to Dawsonville, where she is a resident with a young son at Kilough Elementary.
“We’ve had great success over the last 13 years in the Forsyth county area with many dancers traveling to us on a weekly basis from Dawsonville, Big Canoe, and the Dahlonega areas,” Watkins says. “I constantly hear from families in the area that they wish we could bring the studio up north closer to the Dawsonville area. CDA North gives us the opportunity to do just that! We are so excited about the chance to work with new families and new dancers in the North Georgia community.”
Though classes won’t actually begin until January 9, 2017, CDA is busy building out the space to include all the parts Watkins has learned are needed in the perfect dance studio over the years. This will be Watkins 12th dance studio room that she will build from scratch and turn into a room for young dancers to explore their talents and build self-confidence.
CDA North plans to hold several Meet & Greets during November and December and also will be offering free classes to students of all ages once the space is ready to open.
“We hope to see a lot of new faces at our Meet & Greets and free trial classes,” Watkins says. “It’s a great chance for us to connect with the students and families and for them to see what CDA is all about – quality dance instruction, character development, and care for our students.”
Originally established in 2003, the studio opened its first studio in a shopping center in downtown Cumming. By 2010, Watkins had built a free-standing studio that would serve hundreds of dancers for years to come in the Forsyth and Dawson communities. Watkins hopes that the addition of the Dawsonville location will continue to bring growth not just for the studio but for the community as well.
“With the addition of CDA North, we hope to continue our leadership in the community which we have become known for in Forsyth and bring our talents to those in North Georgia area. We feel so fortunate to be able to enrich the lives of those in and around our study through dance.”
CDA North is currently registering for classes which will begin in January of 2017. Spaces will be limited and with CDA’s history – we encourage everyone to reserve your spot now. Classes will fill quickly!
